You’re bound to have seen a simultaneous interpreter doing their job in some film or other. Interpreters work in pairs, as a team, due to the high levels of concentration required. We’re stationed in a soundproofed interpreting booth and hear the speaker speaking through a microphone through our headphones. We then interpret the speech, event, round table, presentation, etc, from one language to another in real-time, simultaneously. We don’t repeat the content word for word, but convey it concept by concept. We interpreters are fluent in both the source and target languages. One of those will always be our mother tongue.
Need a simultaneous interpreter for Italian, Spanish, German, English or French? Get in touch with me. I’ll answer any questions you might have, and I can either take charge of the project or recommend a trusted colleague who would be suitable for the project in question.
