Liaison interpreting is mainly used at trade fairs and for meetings involving signing contracts or deeds of sale, etc, involving negotiation. The interpreter is situated between the speaker (or group of speakers) and the receiver of the message (person or group of people with whom they are negotiating) and translates from one language to another. These tend to be short meetings, during which the interpreter can take notes or not, and translate from one language to another as the meeting progresses.
This is also a good solution for occasions requiring interpreting such as a visit to a company’s headquarters, an organised trip, etc. In these cases, there tends to be a hybrid use of consecutive interpreting and liaison interpreting. I can help you as a liaison interpreter or translator at trade fairs.
If you need an interpreter for a negotiation in Italian, Spanish, German, English or French to liaise between you and your clients during a trade show or organised trip, send me a message so we can find the very best solution.
